INFO:
2008 : The basement of GRAND MASSIVE was built in Germany by Jochen Boellath (owner of Daredevil Records, ex-Duster69) with his long-time friend Juergen Lobinger (ex-Cursed) in early 2008. The
band was completed by long-time Duster 69 friend Toby Brandl (ex-Commander) and Holger Stich (ex-Red Tape Parade). After some collaboration and live-support with Swedish singer John Hermansen (Mother
Misery, ex-Awesome Machine, ex-Stonewall Noise Orchestra) in the “Duster69-years”, Jochen asked John´s brother Tony to do the vocals. So…the line-up has been completed and the first EP was recorded
in a professional studio as a first Demo.
2009 : The Demo got sold out in a few weeks and the band signed a record-deal with DOWNFALL RECORDS (Twilight) Sweden, who released the Demo again as an official EP. The feedback was
impressive.
A professional Videoclip has been produced for the song MONSTER It got released on the MAXIMUM METAL DVD at the German METAL HAMMER magazine. The song was on the free-magazine-CD of the legendary
TERRORIZER MAGAZINE (UK) too!
Because of the great demand for Vinyl, the band released a limited Split 7“ with Swedish rockers SPARZANZA on Kabuki Records / Universal Sweden.
GRAND MASSIVE played in August 2009 at the legendary WACKEN ROCKS SOUTH Festival on the WET-STAGE with bands like SLAYER, VOLBEAT, IN EXTREMO, EDGUY, DORO, GRAVE DIGGER and many more.
2011 : Juergen got replaced on guitar by the ex-Duster 69 drummer Peter Wiesenbacher.
2013 : After the recording of new material and some gig offers, the band decided to replace Tony on vocals to be free for concerts and new recordings. Alex (FROM CONSTANT VISIONS – Bullet
Records / Soulfood) joined the band then on vocals.
After a longtime friendship with John Lancaster from CHUM (Huntington / USA) and the endless love for their debut album DEAD TO THE WORLD out on CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS, Jochen asked John for a
co-operation. John liked the new GRAND MASSIVE material and did the lyrics and vocals for the song SLEEPWALKER.
GOING INTO RED is a cover-version from Germany`s Stoner Rockers DUSTER 69 and after they split up in 2007 it has been released posthum on the Split 7“ together with HOUSE OF BROKEN PROMISES
(ex-Unida). At that time John Hermansen (Mother Misery, ex-Awesome Machine, ex-Stonewall noise Orchestra) did the lyrics and vocals on GOING INTO RED. The new version of the song is the first
official song with Alex on vocals.
GOING INTO RED is the first videoclip with the new line-up. The two songs were mixed and mastered by JOHN HERMANSEN in Enköping / Sweden.
ANDREAS PREIS (who worked in the past for bands/labels like PETA, NIKE, CONVERGE, BOYSETSFIRE) did the artwork for the single.
Randy Salo, a well-known filmmaker, did the MUNICH UNSIGNED episode with GRAND MASSIVE.
GRAND MASSIVE signed management deals with CHAOSBLAST (Munich) and PMP Agency (Europe).
2014 : GRAND MASSIVE released the unreleased song I AM ATLAS at the first CHAOS BLAST 014 compilation September 2014.
2015 : The legendary producer DAN SWANÖ (Katatonia, Edge of Sanity, Hail of Bullets, Asphyx, Motorjesus) mastered the EP called "II", out February 2015 via 7 HARD Music / Membran! "2" got
great reviews in Europe, America and especially in Germany.
Videoclips from the opener SOUND OF WAR and the darker IN THE WOODS got released short before and after the CD release.
Interviews at ROCK HARD and LEGACY Megazine followed after the release. The Song I AM ATLAS was on the LEGACY Compilation CD.
The band was support on the CORROSION OF CONFORMITY reunion show (with Pepper Keanen).
2016: Another old hero from our youth, Andy Classen (Holy Moses), did the mastering of the 3rd Grand Massive record at his legendary Stage One Studio (Destruction, Tankard, Legion of the
damned.
The CD got released via Metalville Records (with some of our favourites like Paul DiÀnno, Transport League on it) as Digipack and powered by Flying Dolphin Entertainment (Mustasch, Trouble).
And as special attraction, David from Mustasch did guest-solos on the record.
The Song DELIVER ME was on the German Rock Hard and the Terrorizer Magazines (UK).

REVIEWS:
(A. Himmelstein) 7.5
Also, genau.
Sänger Alex (From Constant Visions) die erste Ehre. Mann oh Mann, der Track geht so was ins Ohr.
„Going Into
OF BROKEN PROMISES veröffentlicht hatte.
HELLRIDE MUSIC 8/2013: Some of you long-time Stonerrock fans will recall Germany's Duster 69 , the brainchild of Jochen Boellath, Daredevil Records label chieftain and THC fretboard
shredder extraordinaire. Jochen has joined forces with a couple of solid musicians and put out a 7” single and video for his new band, the aptly monikered Grand Massive. Duster 69 evolved from
straight ahead Kyuss-influenced Stoner Rock into a band which differentiated itself with a deft knack for a Pop hook and catchy chorus. Grand Massive picks up right where Duster 69 left – incredibly
heavy, distorted guitars offset with rich melodies and Boellath's Pop sensibilities. He's the Paul McCartney of the Stoner Rock set. A long-distance Mutual Admiration Society garnered former
Chum vocalist John Lancaster, who wrote the lyrics to and sang on “Sleepwalker”. New permanent vocalist Alex does the honors on a retool of the Duster 69 diddy, “Going Into Red”. The new production
gives it a sheen the song lacked in it's previous incarnation – a glossy, jet-propelled guitar tone and roomy sound. It's hard to judge by two songs, especially with one of them being a cover, but it
appears that Grand Massive picks right up where Duster 69 left off. Fans of heavy rock's quirky-but-melodic side ala' Foo Fighters, Them Crooked Vultures, The Freeks and Queens of the Stone Age will
certainly dig this.
METAL HAMMER 02/2010: All the sings in the underground are increasing that Grand Massive soon could really take off. And this is justified, because the German-Swedish
connection mixes doomy approaches with Southern casualness and sounds like a mix of Candlemass, Down and Black Label Society. The five songs on this smart designed demo will send without detours into
the ear and are despite some retro-approaches crisp-powerful metal hymns. Particularly noteworthy is singer Tony Hermansen, who refines with his bright, but never whiny voice, the dirty riffs of his
back line. Any bet that this band is about to bring as support of any of the mentioned reference bands, the halls to the boil.
ROCK HARD 9/09: The 5 great produced songs rock like hell and so massive, that it is unbelievable, that no huge record company signed that Bavarian band so far. They have an
real good singer with Tony Hermansen from Sweden in the band. A hammer song like ´Monster´ is definately on the same level like the US-Combos ala Clutch or Nebula. And the other songs, which reminds
me on bands like Kyuss, Down and early Black Sabbath, are on the same high level!
LEGACY 06/09: (best Demo of the month) On the first Demo you will find the basement Birmingham, that means, the songs are a Heavy Rock bastard, which would not be possible
without the inspiration from Mr. Iommi. From the first second you will get some crunchy Sabbath-riffs, sometimes with some atmosphereic parts, but mostly with a massive punch like the opener „My
Parade“ or at the catchy „In Me“.
HEAVY ODER WAS?! 04/09: Deep rooted in the early BLACK SABBATH creation, the songs are full of fat riffing, dragging along groove and irresistibly melodies, remind me from
time to time on bands like KYUSS, older MONSTER MAGNET or CLUTCH and the songs past too fast.
CLOSE UP (Schweden): This weeks best newcoming band !!!!!! Of this five songs, the song "Monster" gives the biggest impression, but also the Alice in chains
inspired song "lugn" impress me. I really look forward to a full length album.
